Moms and Babies Are Thriving in Mexico
Caregivers are delighted to receive essential cleaning supplies to maintain a hygienic and healthy home.
Awaken City Church,
Thank you for your continual support of the Survival Program at Iglesia Nacional Presbiteriana Puerta del Cielo in Chiapas, Mexico. Currently, 15 infants and their moms are receiving holistic care from Survival staff as they navigate difficult life circumstances.
The emotional, physical, and spiritual development of babies has a direct effect on the adults they become. Your gift to the Survival Program provides essential care that babies need to survive and thrive. And when a baby reaches 1 year old, it’s a celebration, thanks to you!

A Letter From Clara, a Caregiver
Clara holds her little baby, who is growing steadily with the help of the Survival Program.
My name is Clara, and the neighborhood I live in is a place I find truly beautiful. We are surrounded by mountains, and a lovely river runs nearby. That river is very special to our community, as the women gather there to wash clothes, and we keep it clean through a shared community agreement. You can hear howler monkeys, macaws, and many other birds around us, which makes our home feel peaceful and full of life.
I joined the program when I was three months pregnant, and now my baby is 3 months old. I’m very grateful for the classes they offer. We learn how to care for our babies, from pregnancy through the early years, and this guidance has helped me so much as a new mother.
I am also thankful for the vitamins, medicine, and food we receive. These resources have been a great help to my family. But what I value most is the teaching from God’s Word that we hear in the classes. It strengthens my faith and helps guide me as I raise my children.
Everything I’ve learned through this program has helped me grow as a mother and as a person. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the sponsors who make this program possible. Thanks to you, our families receive support and guidance, which are true blessings.
With love,
Clara

Survival Snapshots at Iglesia Nacional Presbiteriana Puerta del Cielo
Mothers in this Survival Program look forward to monthly meetings at the church, where they learn practical ways to encourage their babies’ development, enjoy fellowship with other moms, refresh their spirits through God’s Word, and receive helpful items such as groceries, clothing, or household goods to help them care for their children. Below are some snapshots of recent activities.
Celebrate Five Babies Transitioning Into the Sponsorship Program
It’s a triumph for mothers and the Survival staff when babies turn 1 year old. In the program you support, five healthy babies have reached this milestone, and they will transition into Compassion’s home-based Sponsorship Program, where they and their mothers will continue to receive holistic care and support. Please keep them and their families in prayer. Pictured below are these babies and their mothers.

Survival Program Spotlight: Breastfeeding
UNICEF has called breastfeeding a “natural safety net against the worst effects of poverty.” This is because breastfeeding can protect babies and mothers from life-threatening diseases and set them up for a healthy future at low cost. Sadly, many mothers in poverty today face obstacles to breastfeeding. Malnutrition can slow women’s healing after pregnancy and stop them from producing enough milk for their babies. And even for women who have enough to eat, social stigmas and a lack of education can hold women back from the full benefits of breastfeeding.
The Survival Program teaches new mothers about breastfeeding and helps them establish a positive nursing connection with their babies. Your support helps mothers push past harmful stigmas for the health of their little ones in the most vulnerable months of life.
Nurturing Lives
Awaken City Church family, your faithful support exemplifies Proverbs 31:8 (NIV), which says, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves…” Through your generosity, love, and prayers, you are speaking up for Mexican babies born into poverty. Many at-risk young lives can now grow into happy, healthy boys and girls because of you. Thank you for investing in them and partnering with Compassion International to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name. May God continually bless you!
