Showing Compassion in Sri Lanka
Lush forests, mountains and tea plantations cover Sri Lanka’s landscape. The island country known as “the pearl of the Indian Ocean” has many residents who struggle with poverty and malnutrition. Sri Lanka is densely populated. The majority of its people are poor, live in rural areas, and depend on agriculture for their livelihood. Compassion has been partnering with local partners in Sri Lanka since 2009. Currently more than 28,000 children are benefiting from Compassion’s whole-child development program.
