Thank You for Your Gift to Plant a New Church in Ecuador
A community member clears a path for construction material delivery to the site.
The Rock Church of Portland,
Thank you for your generous gift to build Movimiento Misionero Mundial in Quininde, Ecuador. While the team waits to break ground officially, the church actively ministers in the community and to the Compassion Sponsorship Program participants registered at the mother church.
At least 40 adults and 100 children attend church services, and 141 children are registered for Compassion’s holistic child development activities. God is working mightily through his people as four people were recently baptized! All of this is made possible because of your gift. Thank you!

Preliminary Construction Activities
The team is working to finalize the construction contracts and permits and is recruiting project personnel. Once those pieces are complete, a civil engineer will conduct a topographical survey to identify where the soil needs to be softened, tilled or reinforced to place the concrete and metal base structures.
Currently, all the locally available excavators are broken, but the team has contacted a nearby community with the necessary machinery to help begin the excavation and land-clearing process. The team also plans to measure the distance between the building’s planned electrical connection point and the community’s existing power grid. Once connected to the local grid, the new facilities will have power.
Pictured here is the construction site. The power lines in the distance are where the church will tap into local electricity.
“At home, my siblings and I see a lot of violence, don’t have enough food or money and my dad can’t find regular work. Every time we come to the center, the food is very good and we always ask for plenty because we don’t know if there will be food at home tomorrow. The church treats us very well and I like learning more about God every day.”

Little By Little
The long-anticipated construction is moving, albeit a bit slowly. But God is stirring the hearts of the Compassion participants and their families as they see some progress on the construction site and receive support, care, and necessities from the church body.
Parents of Compassion participants attend church services which currently meet at the construction site, and they invite men and women from their community who don’t yet know Jesus. Not everyone invited comes, but the church is confident that God will draw them to himself, little by little. Pictured below are glimpses of this faithful church’s ministry to its community.
Pastor Bryan delivers some medication to Compassion participant Angelina who was recently injured in an accident. Her family was unable to afford the medication, so this special delivery is an incredible blessing to them. Small gestures like this are making a transformative difference in this community.
This mother-and-son duo receives a generous grocery package from the church. The mother suffers from frequent epileptic seizures and her son, a Compassion participant, burnt his foot while walking barefoot. These nutritious foods help to relieve the many burdens this family carries.
Lucia works as a health tutor at the mother church’s child development center and leads the participants in a game with health-related themes. Compassion’s holistic Sponsorship Program addresses all major aspects of a child’s well-being, including spiritual, economic, social and physical needs.
A young couple and parents to a Compassion participant surrendered their lives to Jesus, got baptized and married, all thanks to the love, guidance and dedication of Pastor Bryan and this church.
Praises and Prayer Requests
The Rock Church, thank you for blessing this small local church with a gift to help it build a tangible representation of Jesus to its community. Each child experiencing the church’s ministry is already full of joy, so once the building is complete, even more children will experience this same joy.
Please join Movimiento Misionero Mundial in praying for families who are affected by alcohol, violence and drugs, which undoubtedly severely impact the children they serve. We look forward to bringing you more updates as construction progresses! May God bless you.
